🎁 Nomie Release 6.7.4-dn

24 May 2025 by rdl

Release 6.7.4-dn is adding a couple of interesting new features. First of all it is introducing the Pointer. A Pointer is literally a point in time which you can tag specific Notes with. This feature has been created based on a a user request. The use case being mentioned was a regular medical health check with all kind of health measurements. Being able to tag this Note with a Pointer will make it easy to do additional analysis on your data. You can perform these analysis via the analytics platform as part of DailyNomie or via the newly introduces Pointer Widget in the dashboard.

On top of that the usecase also contained a request to set reminders for the next event (regular health check in this case). So I have introduced a feature to add reminders to Pointers so you will be reminded of future events.

Features:
– Introduces Pointers to tag specific notes
– Introduces reminders in conjunction with Pointers to be reminded for future events
– Introduces a new dashboard widget to compare values of different Notes tagged with a Pointer

For more information, see following explanation: 🏷️ Pointers & Reminders

Fixes:
– fixes the template builder
– fixes a bug in the auto search function

🏷️ Pointers & Reminders

21 May 2025 by rdl

Some time ago a user of Nomie introduced me to a specific usecase. He would like to be able to log in a single note his quarterly medical healthcheck values (like blood pressure, heartrate, specific other blood values etc). On top of that, he thought it would be handy to get a reminder when the next quarterly healthcheck should be planned/performed.

Logging a combination of entries of different trackables in a single Nomie note can be done using the combo tracker, but specifically reporting about a blood value over the last 3 healthchecks is difficult with the current features of Nomie. You can use the analytics platform, but that is not always easy…and not (always) for everyone. Setting a reminder in Nomie is a feature which is currently not available.

So, to support this usecase, I decided to introduce Pointers & Reminders in Nomie.

You can literally define a Pointer as a point in time (a specific Nomie Note) which you would like to tag for later reference and analysis/reporting.

Reminders are ….. reminders. Just set a date when you want to be reminded and Nomie will provide you with a message on that specific day.

The current development process is almost seeing the light of production. *UPDATE: IN PRODUCTION PER 24/05/2025* The below screenshots will provide you with a preview and some guidance on how to use these new features.

You can define a pointer via the settings page, just click on the 🏷️ Pointers option:

Once chosen the 🏷️ Pointers option, you will be directed to the following view:

Above you see the defined Pointers. As an example I have defined Pointers for my quarterly healthcheck and for monthly management presentations. Let’s have a look at the specific parameters for a Pointer by clicking on one of them:

You can define a Pointer as any other Trackable with some specifics for a Pointer.
1) you can indicate if you want to set a reminder for the Pointer
2) you can indicate a date for such a reminder.

Going back to the global Pointer overview you can see the status of the reminder option for each individual Pointer by the small colored indicator in the right top of each Pointer button. In below example you see that the reminder for the HealthCheck is overdue, the presentation Pointer does not have a reminder defined.

When a Pointer becomes overdue, you will get the following message in Nomie:

Now that you have defined a Pointer you can include them via the regular ways in the Notes you create. Using a Pointer as start of a combo-tracker is a good start. A pointer will be presented as a colored dot in a Note, see below the Presentation Pointer example:

Now you have a Pointer defined and included in some Notes, I have created an initial widget for the dashboard to report based on Pointers. Let’s say you have tagged some Notes with the Presentation Pointer and in these Notes you also logged your Mood (see example above). Now you want to create a widget representing your Mood during the last 5 presentations (Notes tagged with the Presentation Pointer). Let’s start with going to the Dashboard page and create a new widget:

Choose the Pointers Widget:

As Trackable you select ‘Mood’, as Pointer you select ‘Presentation’. You define the timeframe to use for the query and the amount of Samples. In above example we defined 5 samples which will show your Mood during the last 5 presentations (Notes tagged with the presentation Pointer). This will result in the following widget on the Dashboard:

Happy tracking!

⌚️Apple Watch App Build 1.11

12 April 2025 by rdl

With the introduction of the habit tracker in the DailyNomie instance of Nomie (link), also the Apple Watch App needed an upgrade to enable quick logging of an habit.

This weekend I took some time to update the App and now you are able to quickly log whether you achieved or missed a certain habit.

🎁 Nomie Release 6.7.3-dn

7 April 2025 by rdl

Release 6.7.3-dn is adding a couple of intresting new features. First of all the Goals section is extended with weekly and monthly goals which makes following goals more useful for the long term. Secondly a new tracker has been introduced: the Habit tracker.
The Habit tracker enables users to explicitly track whether a habit has been achieved or missed. Previously you could achieve almost the same with a Tally tracker, but a Tally tracker only implicitly showed a missed habit (when the tracker was not used). For weekly/monthly habits the Tally tracker was not useful.
The Habit tracker let’s you define a habit, including a configurable label to be used for missed vs achieved habits.

As a bonus feature, a new widget has been introduced for the Dashboard to show the results of your habits.

Features:
– Introduces an option to monitor weekly and monthly goals
– Introduces a new tracker: the Habit tracker
– Introduces a new dashboard widget to view the results of your habits

Fixes:
– none

🎁 Nomie Release 6.7.2-dn

9 November 2024 by rdl

Release 6.7.2-dn is adding a feature which was requested by a user. When you have a series of data, where some datapoints are reflected as 0 (zero), sometimes you want these to be ignored in your charts. The charts in the dashboard now have the option to ignore those Zero’s.

Features:
– Ignore zero’s in charts on the dashboard

Fixes:
– none

Back in Business

6 August 2024 by rdl

Unfortunately my server got problems while I was on vacation. I was able to restore the services remotely quickly, but the DailyNomie website needed some more time and (internet) bandwidth to get it recovered.

As I was only having limited internet connection on my vacation address, it had to wait until I was back home again.

Fortunately I have been able to also restore the website, so we are back in business again.

Thanks all for your understanding.
