I Need Nomie
Since β€οΈBrandon Open Sourced Nomie, there was no other option for me to maintain it… I just need it.
Everyone else is still invited for the ride
Some background…
It must have been somewhere in the summer of 2019 that I started to drown myself in the Stoic philosophy. While practicing the learning’s from the numerous books I read, I felt the need to track and quantify how these practices affected my daily life. As an experienced long distance runner I was used to collect all kinds of data. Unfortunately that data was scattered over multiple apps (vendors) and difficult to correlate. My stoic journey introduced more data-points, for some there was not even an app to collect them.
Just imagine my excitement when I discovered Nomie, which quickly became the central tool where I routed all my data to. Nomie became my personal data ledger. While β€οΈ Brandon Corbin kept developing Nomie, we got in touch with each other which let to some additional Nomie functionality, of which the Plugin functionality appears to be the most useful. I created a hand full of plugins for Nomie, but unfortunately Brandon had to shift gears and decided to dedicate his time to other great projects.
That was the moment -beginning of 2023- where Brandon gave Nomie as a gift to the Open Source community.
As Nomie proved to be so beneficial on my Stoic journey I decided to adopt this Open Source project as one of the contributors & I further developed multiple Nomie Plugins to extend its usability.
Next to some personal stories, this website will contain tutorials, guidance and best practices to use Nomie.
It will also contain
– the latest Nomie version to install
– a Nomie πͺAPI Server, free to use
– a Nomie βοΈApple Watch app and related API Server, free to use
– a Nomie π Sync Service, free to use
I hope you will enjoy and that we can keep Nomie alive.
I will keep on using Nomie daily, so this is my DAILYNOMIE
Regards,
Ronald
Privacy Matters
No Accounts, no Google, no User Tracking. 100% your data.
We too easily hand over our personal data when using apps to track our lives. But read the privacy policies and you’ll learn; while your data might be “safe” now, when that company/product gets bought – so does your data. (Looking at you Fitbit and Google π‘).
It’s been our data that gives these companies their value. We need to take that value back, and Nomie can help.
Nomie want absolutely nothing to do with your personal data. Which is why Nomie is built differently. There are no central servers, there’s no Nomie account. Instead, your data is either stored locally on your device (make sure to backup), or in your CouchDB which only you control.
Happy tracking!
